This gorgeous Lady Hand Puppet is a 1930s rarity developed by the creative hands of workers from the Works Progress Administration (WPA), a program created by the US government to help the Great Depression. She has an endearing expression and is elegantly dressed in a cotton fabric garment. Her head is made from light papier mache and is finely hand painted. Her hands are sewn and painted fabric. This puppet has been used and there is visible evidence of its age such as scuffs, paint loss, scratching, cracking on the head etc. Note that one eye ball has been repainted. No WPA stamp found but it could have faded with time. Bring this delightful piece of North American's history to your vintage collection today!
