Steiff, the legendary German plush toy company, is famous for its artistry, beauty, and lasting quality. They're renowned for creating the original Teddy Bear and everyone is enchanted when the iconic Teddy comes to life as a hand puppet. And this puppet is very special not only by is endearing baby-like expression with glass eyes but also because it is an early model, with the rare old style chest tag in red letters. Little Teddy also wears a rare blue silk bow. As other toys of the time, it was expertly crafted in Germany circa 1952-53 and uses premium mohair plush. Teddy has been used but is still in very good condition, with Steiff trade's mark button in ear and nice coloring. Its head is filled with excelsior (wood wool) and has a cardboard finger tube for movement. Teddy hand puppet can't wait to join your vintage toy collection!
