Lumpi the Dachshund is a highlight among Steiff's dog characters. And this puppy is special not only because of its sweet look but also because it was produced only between the years 1965 and 1966, making it one of the rarities of the post-war era. Like other toys of the time, this puppet was finely handcrafted in Germany using the best materials. Its open mouth with a hanging felt tongue is simply adorable! Its original colors seem to have faded over the years but the detailed airbrushing work gives it a distressed look that is also very appealing. Lumpi's head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a plastic finger tube for movement. This puppet is well loved but is still very charming. It retains the button and an illegible ear tag that would read #0317,06. The bow also shows wear. Sweet Lumpi can't wait to join your vintage toy collection!
