Steiff produced adorable toys during its early years. Some of their favourite animals were also developed as hand puppets. This old little Lion is a great example of Steiff's adorable prewar hand puppets and was beautifully handmade in Germany between 1936-43. Just by the proportions and the way it is sewn, you can tell how meticulously crafted this toy was. Lion's baby-like expression, with hand stitched nose and mouth, is captivating. This puppet has been loved and shows wear, gained during its many decades of life. But nothing that takes away from its wonderful character. Little Lion's head is still firmly stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a cardboard finger tube for movement. Steiff's trademark "Button in Ear" is still present. This Lion hand puppet can't wait to join your antique toy collection!
