STEIFF Jocko Monkey Hand Puppet ~ 1930s

Monkeys are legacy animals for Steiff and were produced since the early years of the company. This very old Jocko hand puppet is a great example of this iconic character and was beautifully handmade in Germany around the 1930s. Just by the way his tiny hands are sewn you can tell how meticulously crafted this puppet was. His handsome look, with pocket glass eyes, gives him a captivating expression that is hard not to fall in love with. Jocko's head is firmly stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a cardboard finger tube for movement. This puppet has been well loved and shows wear, gained during his almost 100 years of life. There are many bald mohair areas, but his imperfections give him an added layer of charm and personality! He still retains Steiff's early button and will be a great addition to any antique Toy Collection.
