Steiff, the legendary German plush toy company, is famous for its artistry, beauty, and lasting quality. They produced incredible stuffed animals of every type, including super fun hand puppets, like this Hen character, a great example of a bird that is rarely seen as a plush toy. This puppet was finely handcrafted in Germany between 1968-74, a relatively short production time. Its felt comb, plastic beak and flapping mohair wings are adorable. Its head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a plastic finger tube for movement. This puppet is overall in good condition with nice and bright mohair but please note that there's some damage to the plastic beak and a small tear to the felt comb. All Steiff IDs were lost to time. This playful little bird can't wait to join your vintage toy collection!
