This adorable Girl marionette is a nice example of Czech's craftsmanship of the early 1900s and is only 6.5in/16.5cm tall. During that time, string puppets of this scale were created for touring puppeteers or for family entertainment and are very collectible nowadays. They use the classic triangular controller with a rod attached to the head, making their manipulation much easier than a conventional all string puppet. This marionette has a very expressive face! Its plaster head and limbs are beautifully hand painted. The body is a mix of fabric and wood parts, connected by wires and nicely dressed. It shows wear with chips on the face and hands, tears on the costume and soiling. Despite its age and condition issues, it still displays nicely.
