ANKER Lion Hand Puppet ~ 1960s

Germany is home to one of the most prized plush-making industries in Europe. There are countless brands that enchanted children with their amazing soft toys. Founded in 1954, Anker is one of these companies that also produced a variety of hand puppets. Famous for the comical Mule character Mufti, the company closed its doors in the late 70s. Here's a nice example of one of their hand puppets. A Lion finely handcrafted in Munich using mohair plush and plastic eyes. Its head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a cardboard finger tube for movement. This puppet has been loved and shows play wear with some bald areas. This adorable puppet can't wait to join your vintage toy collection!
