Steiff, the legendary German plush toy company, is famous for its artistry, beauty, and lasting quality. They produced incredible stuffed animals of every type, including super fun hand puppets, like the iconic dog Molly! And this character stands out as a big favorite since its first appearance in 1925. Molly carries a lot of charm and is even more fun to play with in puppet form! Its large glass eyes and hand-stitched nose, give this puppy an endearing expression that is truly adorable. Like other toys of the time, this puppet was finely handcrafted in Germany. This is an early model #317 made between 1950-58 and still retains all its IDs. Steiff uses the nicest mohair plush and it is not a surprise that Molly presents beautifully after so many years. Its head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a cardboard finger tube for movement. Despite some small stain spots and mohair darkening, this puppet is overall gently used and will make a nice addition to your vintage toy collection!
