Steiff, the legendary German plush toy company, is famous for its artistry, beauty, and lasting quality. They produced amazing stuffed animals of every type, including super fun hand puppets. And this Penguin is even more special because it's the first of the series made in 1967 and retains all its IDs with crisp tags. The coloring is vibrant and it appears not to have been used. As other vintage Steiff toys, it was expertly handmade in Germany using the finest mohair plush. Its deep and lustrous quality is hard to capture in pictures. It has googly eyes, a felt beak and two very cute flapping wings. Its head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a plastic finger tube for movement.
