Steiff, the legendary German plush toy company, is famous for its artistry, beauty, and lasting quality. Founded in 1880 by seamstress Margarete Steiff, it was later expanded by her nephew, Richard Steiff, who invented the world's first Teddy bear with movable limbs. Foxy is one of Steiff's most beloved dogs and he is even more charming as a hand puppet! This sweet character has an endearing expression that is hard not to fall in love with. Its glass eyes is an indication of an early model likely from the 1950-60s. It was handcrafted in Germany and uses the finest mohair plush. It has stitched nose, mouth and claws. Its head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a cardboard finger tube for movement. This handsome puppet has been gently used and still has nice coloring. Steiff's chest tag is present but the button and ear tag are missing. Also note the lack of bow and a light stain in the front of the body. Foxy puppet can't wait to join your vintage toy collection!
