Steiff, the legendary German plush toy company, is famous for its artistry, beauty, and lasting quality. They produced amazing stuffed animals of every type, including super fun hand puppets, like this classic design of the Tabby Cat, a favorite among plush collectors. Kitty's lovely expression with endearing glass eyes is an indication of an early model likely handcrafted in Germany circa 1950s. It's nose/mouth is hand-stitched and the striped airbrushing work on this puppet is very nice. Tabby's head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a cardboard finger tube for movement. This sweet little puppet is well preserved but has some stain to its nose, is missing the silk bow and no longer retains its Steiff IDs.
