Steiff, the legendary German plush toy company, is famous for its artistry, beauty, and lasting quality. The company produced amazing stuffed animals of every type, including super fun hand puppets, like this Fox named Smardy. Based on a German character featured in a children's math book, this puppet was finely handcrafted in Germany between 1964-67 and uses the nicest mohair plush. Different from most puppets developed during the same period, Smardy is full bodied and has an incredible presence with its bushy and lustrous long mohair tail. Its head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a plastic finger tube for movement. This puppet is complete with all IDs and is very well preserved, still showing nice coloring and crispy tags. Don't wait to bring this special puppet to your vintage toy collection!
