Here's a very old Mr Punch hand puppet head from the world renown Punch and Judy Puppet Show! The carving on this piece with a protruding nose and a pointy hat is remarkable. The head appears to have lost part of its original painting. It could also have been retouched/repainted over the years, a practice not uncommon on early pieces like this one. This puppet head is a rarity made in Germany circa late 19th Century. It shows wear with scuffs, paint loss, spots, small chips, discoloration and other age and use marks.
