Recognized by their refined beauty and clever construction, Czech Marionettes developed into a valued art form that is prized all over the world!
This adorable Boy Marionette made by Munzbergo is a nice example of Czech's craftsmanship of the early 20th Century. During that time, string puppets of this scale were created for touring puppeteers or for family entertainment and are very collectible nowadays. They use the classic triangular controller with a rod attached to the head, making their manipulation much easier than a conventional all-string puppet. This character has a very expressive face! Its plaster head and limbs are beautifully hand painted. The body is a mix of fabric and wood parts, connected by wires and nicely dressed. The puppet itself is about 8in/21cm tall, with the rod it measures 26in/66cm approximately. It shows age wear with costume discoloration, paint loss, some chipping on the back of the hat and one broken finger. But it still displays nicely. Don't wait to welcome this special little marionette to your toy collection!
