Steiff, the legendary German plush toy company, is famous for its artistry, beauty, and lasting quality. They produced amazing stuffed animals of every type, including super fun hand puppets, like this classic design of the Leo Lion. Its sweet look with expressive glass eyes is adorable! The gorgeous airbrushing work and his pronounced tipped mane give this character a nice distressed look that everyone adores. It has nylon whiskers and the nose/mouth is hand stitched. As other Steiff toys of the time, this puppet was expertly handmade in Germany using the finest mohair plush circa 1950-60s. Its head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a cardboard finger tube for movement. Little Leo has been used and has lost its IDs during its decades of life.
