Bross GRETEL Hand Puppet ~ 1950s Rare!

Fritz Herbert Bross (1910-1976) was a German puppet maker and puppeteer that came from a family of wood sculptors. Originally trained as an engineer, he devoted his life to the world of puppets, developing some outstanding characters for puppeteers and theater companies alike. His creations combine a refined visual sensibility with a mastery of all technical aspects behind a professional puppet. His puppets are rare and highly sought after!

This fine Bross creation is a Gretel Hand Puppet that has a stunning expression. Her head is intricately carved and delicately hand-painted. Her colorful fabric costume makes her even more beautiful. This classic fairy tale figure is marked on the back of the neck and still holds the original paper tag, that is usually gone. This puppet is in good vintage condition and although it appears to have never been used, the dress has holes and stains. Please also note that the wood on one cheek has a fine crack line, likely due to natural wood expansion. Don't miss the opportunity of adding this rare and remarkable hand puppet to your collection!
