Else Hecht was born in 1888 in Munich. She was a craftswoman, puppeteer and came from a family of artists. Her puppets and dolls are rare and highly sought after. Here's one of her wonderful creations depicting a cleaning lady with the nicest expression. This maid puppet has a pressed felt face with button eyes and delicate painted features. She even carries an amusing feather duster. Her body is made of felt and her garment is adorned with some lace detailing on both collar and apron. Similar to other toys of the 1920-30s, this puppet was finely handcrafted in Germany using the best available materials. The attention to detail and craftsmanship are remarkable.
