KASPER Hand Puppet ~ by Gerhard Stiehl 1950s Rare!

Puppetry has been part of the German culture for hundreds of years. There's not only a strong tradition of German brands producing puppets as toys but also countless German designers and puppet makers creating puppets for the professional stage.

This very expressive Kasper hand puppet was created by German designer Gerhard Stiehl and produced in the town of Borna, Germany, circa early 1950s. Different from newer versions with composite heads, the puppets made by Bornaer Handspielpuppen during this time had meticulously handcrafted papier mâché heads masterfully hand painted! The costumes are also another labour of love that denote all the detail and care used in the making of these old art pieces. This hand puppet is in good vintage condition but shows age and wear. Don't miss the opportunity of adding this rare and remarkable hand puppet to your collection!
