Fritz Herbert Bross (1910-1976) was a German puppet maker and puppeteer that came from a family of wood sculptors. Originally trained as an engineer, he devoted his life to the world of puppets, developing some outstanding characters for puppeteers and theater companies alike. His creations combine a refined visual sensibility with a mastery of all technical aspects behind a professional puppet. His puppets are rare and highly sought after!
This King Hand Puppet is a perfect example of Bross's expressiveness and care for detail. His head is carefully carved in wood and delicately hand-painted. His detailed fabric costume makes him even more attractive. This puppet was made in Germany circa 1950s and both Bross metal plaque behind the neck and the paper tag are still present. This puppet is in good vintage condition but it shows age signs with some spots on the face and wear, tear and discoloration to the fabric costume. Also note that the crown is missing, the last picture shows a tiny whole where it was screwed. Don't miss the opportunity of adding this rare and remarkable hand puppet to your vintage collection!
