STEIFF Young Lion Hand Puppet ~ 1949-54 Rare!

Steiff, the legendary German plush toy company, is famous for its artistry, beauty, and lasting quality. Founded in 1880 by seamstress Margarete Steiff, it was later expanded by her nephew, Richard Steiff, who invented the world's first Teddy bear with movable limbs. This Young Lion hand puppet, a classic mid-century Steiff design, has a irresistible baby-like expression! Its unusual wool plush, dates this piece between 1949-54. As other Steiff toys of the time, this puppet was expertly handmade in Germany using the finest materials. The expressive glass eyes and nice airbrushing work gives this character an amazing look that everyone adores. Its head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a cardboard finger tube for movement. It is gently used and retains the era button, yet it shows some signs of wear due to its age. Rare and special, this vintage toy is sure to be a prized addition to any collection!
