Steiff, the legendary German plush toy company, is famous for its artistry, beauty, and lasting quality. The company produced incredible stuffed animals of every type, including some unusual characters like this Hen hand puppet, a great example of a bird that is rarely seen as a plush toy. This puppet was finely handcrafted in Germany between 1968-74, a relatively short production time. Its felt comb, plastic beak and flapping mohair wings are adorable. Its head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a plastic finger tube for movement. This puppet retains all Steiff IDs and the mohair is still nice and bright, unusual for this plush color.
