Steiff has made some of the nicest forest animals in the market and this Young Lion hand puppet certainly honors the reputation. Its sweet look, with expressive glass eyes and embroidered nose/mouth, is adorable! The airbrushing work is also very nice and gives this character an amazing distressed look that everyone adores. This puppet is not seen often and this is probably due to its short production time: 1954 to 1961. Like other toys of the time, Lion Cub uses the finest mohair plush. Its head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a cardboard finger tube for movement. This puppet has been loved, is missing its nylon whiskers and Steiff's trademark "button in ear". The plush also shows some age wear but these imperfections don't take away its vintage charm and personality. This rare little puppet can't wait to join your vintage toy collection!
