Steiff Tom Cat is certainly a favorite among Steiff's beloved felines and he is even more desirable as a playful hand puppet! This Kitty's expression with green eyes is hard to resist. Like other toys of the time, Tom Cat was skilfully handcrafted in Germany from 1968-78 using the finest mohair plush. The pictures can't capture how lustrous the dark plush is. Steiff's trademark "button in ear" is still present but the yellow flag is faded. Tom Cat has nylon whiskers and the nose/mouth is stitched. Its head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a plastic finger tube for movement. He has been used but overall is well preserved. For sure this sweet little puppet will be a nice addition to your vintage toy collection!
