Steiff has created some of the most adorable dog characters and Cockie as a hand puppet is certainly one of them. Its endearing look with prominent muzzle and long ears is adorable. Similar to other toys of the time, Cockie was finely handcrafted in Germany using the nicest mohair plush. This puppet has lost its IDs but the glass eyes is an indication of an early model, likely made circa 1950-60s. Cockie has been gently used and holds nice coloring. Its head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a cardboard finger tube for movement.
