Steiff has created some of the most adorable dog characters and Cockie as a hand puppet is certainly one of them. Its endearing look with prominent muzzle and long ears are adorable. Similar to other toys of the time, Cockie was finely handcrafted in Germany using the nicest mohair plush. This puppet has lost its IDs but the plastic eyes is an indication of a newer model, likely made circa 1960-70s. Cockie has been used and is missing Steiff IDs. The bow is worn and there are some darker mohair spots. Its head is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a plastic finger tube for movement.
